Tinubu should talk to bandits like Niger Delta insurgents, according to Sani Yerima

Sani Yerima, a former Zamfara governor, has advised President Bola Tinubu to engage in conversation with bandits, as former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua did with Niger Delta insurgents.

On Saturday, Yerima stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa.

“I’m advising the government to first find time to sit with these criminals, just like they did with Niger Delta insurgents in the past,” he stated. Because, despite the presence of some foreigners, the vast majority of them are Nigerians.

“But, Nigerians among them can be persuaded, just as Niger Delta insurgents were persuaded and empowered to cease.”

“If that fails, the government has the option of using force against them wherever they are,” he warned.

Yerima’s call for negotiation with criminals comes amid an increase in indiscriminate killings and kidnappings for ransom across the country.

Meanwhile, the former Zamfara governor stated that some of the terrorists terrorising Nigeria are foreigners.

Remember that Yerima established Sharia law in Zamfara state 23 years ago.

Bello Buba Jangebe was amputated for stealing a cow under Yerima’s regime in 2000, following a Zamfara Sharia Court judgement.

Similarly, Lawali Isa, who stole a bicycle in 2001, had his hand cut.
