3 members of a robbery gang have been set ablaze after an attempt to rob a bank
According to a statement from the spokesperson of the police command, Gbenga Fadeyi, the robbers arrived at the bank in an 18-seater bus at about 3 pm.
They then gained entrance into the bank using dynamites and AK-47 riffles shots by blowing the security door.
He added that but for a collaborative effort from the Police Tactical teams, Vigilante and hunters the robbers would have fled with a lot of money.
Gbenga explained that while the robbers fled the scene of the attack, the 18-seater bus they rode in, somersaulted.
He said three of the robbery suspects who were arrested when the bus somersaulted, were set on fire by the mob.
The police spokesperson added that the state Commissioner of Police has directed all the Police Tactical teams including the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Mobile Police Force (PMF 72) and Police personnel from Okeho Area Command and nearby Divisions to be on the trail of other members of the fleeing robbery gang who escaped in different directions.
In as much as the robbers committed a crime, it is wrong for the angry mob to have set them on fire.
What happened to the laws of the land?
Killing a criminal is also a crime, or that is no longer the case?
Police must ensure all the people part of the mob who committed the crime are jailed.
Such an act must not be tolerated in any community as through such means innocent people have been killed.
Actions of mobs are mostly against the laws of any country, why is there no talk of ever arresting the perpetrator?
The police never seem to disappoint me.
