A 14-year-old girl has reportedly died after she was doused in petrol and set on fire by her uncle for not marrying her cousin in Pakistan.
Reports say the girl’s father, Mohammad Yousuf turned down a marriage proposal from his brother Mohammad Yaqoob, who wanted to wed the 14-year-old girl, named Sadia, to his son in Chiniot, Punjab.
It was established that the deceased’s father had already promised his daughter to another relative two months earlier.
According to Police report, the deceased’s uncle now the suspect was lurking until She returned to her family home where he doused the petrol before setting her alight.
The deceased identified as Sadia was said to have been left alone with her injuries and as no one was in the house.
Sadia managed to escape from her home and was rushed to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Sadia’s parents and other family members tried to cover up the crime by telling people she had been injured and died in a horrific cylinder blast.
But the police found contradicting factors in the statements of her parents and in-laws and eventually took the uncle into custody.
The suspect later confessed to his crimes during questioning.
The latest tragic incident comes a month after the body of a 24-year-old woman was found after she was stoned to death in an honor killing in Pakistan.
What is happening in Pakistan must be condemned at all angles.
Why kill a human being because she has been betrothed to someone else.
I sincerely think something is wrong with the suspect.
There is no reason that swill justifies this.
He should be jailed life imprisonment.
